The Senate is renewed partially every four years. The remaining districts elected their senators in 1993 and the results were as follows:

The Senate was partially renewed this year and elections for this high chamber took place in regions 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and Metropolitan, only. In the previous election, in 1993, the "Union of the Center-Center" (UCC) formed a coalition with RN and UDI (Conservative opposition.) This year, the UCC launched its own candidates and left the coalition.
